Our Facility
The CTAC facility has 24 clinical rooms where health sciences learners practice and are tested on interviewing and physical examination skills. Rooms are equipped with ceiling-mounted video cameras and microphones that allow digital capture of learners’ encounters with standardized patients and faculty. All rooms simulate a standard clinical examination room and contain medical equipment, including otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, examination tables and sinks. Each room can accommodate up to six people comfortably for group sessions. CTAC is also equipped with conference rooms and classrooms near the exam rooms.
Standardized Patient Program
The Standardized Patient program began in 1994 and is an integral part of CTAC. Standardized patients are trained to portray a patient in realistic and repeatable ways to ensure a consistent experience for learning and evaluation.
