MPAS-MPH

The Master of Physician Assistant Studies-Master of Public Health (MPAS-MPH) dual degree program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health allows students to integrate the Physician Assistant (PA) clinical and didactic work with the core competencies of public health, resulting in a greater understanding of the impacts of population-focused health. This innovative approach promotes understanding of the value of community partnerships and interprofessional skills.

Applicants applying to the MPAS-MPH program apply directly through the Physician Assistant program, so it is important to be aware of the MPAS application process and timeline.

Interested students should apply for the dual degree directly through their CASPA application when they apply to the School of Medicine and Public Health. Students select the option to apply to the MPAS-MPH dual degree and submit a supplemental personal statement that addresses their public health experience and/or goals. Both the PA and MPH programs review the applicants separately for admission. The admissions process also includes an interview with PA and MPH faculty and/or staff. Applicants must be admitted by each program separately.

Upon admission to the MPAS-MPH program, students will spend one year completing the majority of the MPH requirements, followed by one didactic year and one clinical year in the PA program.

Students will complete all required PA program courses. The MPAS-MPH Course Schedule lists PA courses that count towards MPH requirements.
