DPT Mission
The mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is to produce autonomous generalist clinicians committed to the delivery of evidence-based quality care in an empathetic, collaborative, professional, culturally sensitive manner, and who have the foundation to assume the roles of physical therapy educator, researcher, administrator, consultant, and clinical specialist.
Philosophy and Values
Our Doctor of Physical Therapy program welcomes students of all backgrounds and identities and prepares them to become autonomous generalist clinicians committed to provide evidence-based quality care in an empathetic, collaborative, professional, and culturally sensitive manner. Graduates have the foundation to assume the roles of physical therapy educator, researcher, administrator, consultant and clinical specialist.
We emphasize the dignity of the individual, and our mission is grounded in the study of improving dysfunctional human movement through astute diagnosis and appropriate interventions that emphasize integrating the patient/client into their own environment. We build upon a foundation of evidence-based practice that includes scientific inquiry, patient values and clinical experience.
We encourage lifelong learning, as well as continued academic and professional growth, so graduates can become leaders in meeting the future needs of patients/clients and the physical therapy profession.
We enact this mission and philosophy by setting relevant goals and objectives, measuring our program outcomes and fostering diversity.
