UW Health spine surgeon Dr. Daniel Resnick was elected president of the 8,000-member North American Spine Society at its annual meeting this month.
Resnick is professor and vice chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where he also directs the residency program. Dr. Resnick studies evidence-based spine care, and he is a principal investigator in several prospective trials evaluating clinical and economic efficacy of common spinal treatments.
“I am proud to lead NASS because it is dedicated to improving outcomes across the spectrum of spine care,” said Resnick. “NASS has a significant voice in this process and I am proud to represent NASS at meetings with agencies such as the CMS and the FDA, funding agencies such as the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and on Capitol Hill, where our input has made a real difference in patient care.”
Resnick is also a past chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and past president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Resnick earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
