Whitey Stevens-Sostre, a doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison neuroscience training program, has been named a Yale Ciencia fellow.

Stevens-Sostre and 39 other young science leaders will attend the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting this week in Washington, D.C. to begin their fellowship year.

The program is designed to mentor young Latinx scientists and is a collaborative program of CienciaPR and the Yale University Center for Teaching and Learning. Fellows take part in a year-long mentoring and career guidance program which begins with the in-person meeting at AAAS.

Stevens-Sostre is a researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Gail Robertson, professor of neurosciences, and is studying the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms that are involved in neurological diseases.
