UW Health, UW School of Medicine and Public Health launch UW Clinical Trials Institute
UW Health and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health are announcing the formation of the University of Wisconsin Clinical Trials Institute to advance health care innovations via clinical trials at UW–Madison.
The institute serves as a centralized hub focused on the development of more collaborative, streamlined, effective and efficient processes in the administration and operations of clinical trials at UW–Madison and UW Health.
“Through the centralized institute, we will continue to emphasize consistency, quality, safety and the appropriate use of resources as we support the critical work of our study teams and trial participants,” said Betsy Nugent, director, UW Clinical Trials Institute.
The institute will focus on developing new industry partnerships and improving the support of clinical trials operations throughout UW Health and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, she said.
The institute is also working to earn an important accreditation from the Site Accreditation and Standards Institute, affiliated with the Alliance for Clinical Research Excellence and Safety. The accreditation is recognized as the global quality standard for clinical research sites.
“The formation of the institute will allow us to better support UW’s clinical research community and help advance innovation and discovery in the prevention, detection and treatment of a range of diseases,” said Dr. Nasia Safdar, research director, UW Clinical Trials Institute.
